Dr. Katie Walkiewicz (Cherokee Nation) is an Assistant Professor of nineteenth-century American literature and culture in the Department of Literature. She co-edited The People Who Stayed: Southeastern Indian Writing after Removal with Geary Hobson and Janet McAdams (University of Oklahoma Press, 2010) and has published essays in journals including NAIS: Journal of the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association, J19: Journal of Nineteenth-Century Americanists, and Walt Whitman Quarterly Review. She is currently finishing a book manuscript tentatively titled Un-Tied States: Nineteenth-Century Narratives of Indigeneity and Territory, under contract with University of North Carolina Press.
